Consistency helped Allison Evans stick to her weight-loss plan.

After graduating from school, Allison went on a trip overseas. She returned with some great memories and some extra weight. This extra weight was affecting her energy level and many other aspects of her life. Allison decided to take the advice from her sister and go through with a weight-loss transformation that included a consistent workout and healthy eating plan and the help of the weight-loss supplement Hydroxycut®. After 20 weeks, Allison lost a grand total of 31 pounds. She spills some of her tips and motivation for losing weight in our follow-up interview with her.

What made you want to lose weight?
“I was unhappy. I thought that I could stay in shape by just running, but I guess my metabolism caught up with me. I used to eat whatever I wanted. I just wasn't happy with things.”

Did you think you were going to be able to stick with it and hit your goal weight? Why or why not?
“Yeah, I thought I would. I just knew it would be hard. The hardest thing was preparing my meals in advance. I always liked working out. It was just a matter of making sure that I did it consistently. Most people do it for a week but then take four or five days off and then go back to it. You just got to stay with it and make sure you do it consistently. After the first couple of weeks, when you start seeing results, it gets easier and easier to keep doing it.”

For Allison, getting in great shape took some dedication, but once she got started sticking to her plan became a part of her life.

Did you find it difficult to stick to nutritious eating when those around you might not have been dieting and were sometimes eating fattening food?
“Yes, it's incredibly hard. My philosophy prior to my transformation was that if I picked at or snacked on food from someone else's plate, then those calories didn't count!” “When there's food in front of you and people are just going at it, it's hard. I started making sure that when people were around me eating, as long as I had a drink in my hand - whether it was water, Crystal Light®, or caffeine-free tea, as long as there was something - it was easier."

Has your transformation changed your life?
“Yes, I guess I'm just a happy person overall now. People actually tell me now that I look like I'm in shape. I have more energy to do things, and I'm not so self-conscious about my body. It's nice when I go to try on clothes and see I've dropped a couple sizes. I'm just happier in general. I have a better outlook on life.”

What advice would you give to women who say they're too busy to exercise and eat right?
“You can always find the time. If you think about it, when most people come home, they sit down and watch the news on TV. All you have to do is invest in a gym that has good TVs so you can do your workout while watching television. People always have downtime; it's just a matter of how they choose to spend it.

Allison's Meal and Workout Plan
“In terms of eating right, I remember reading once that you should just stay on the perimeter of a grocery store and never go down the aisles. On the outer edges of a grocery store, that's where you'll find the fresh fruits and meats. It's in the aisles where you'll find all the potato chips. “There's always time. You just have to plan your meals and think about what you're going to eat throughout the day. It's pretty easy. You just have to use an indoor grill and chicken and vegetables. It's great. You don't even have to defrost anything; you just throw it on the grill and chop up some vegetables and put them in there. It's pretty easy. I also recommend working out in the morning. If you can work out earlier, then it's not lingering on your mind for the rest of the day.”
