Research has shown that exercising at a moderate level may be more beneficial if your goal is to lose optimal amounts of bodyfat. Physiological factors dictate that a level of 50 to 70 percent of your maximum heart rate may help burn more fat as energy, while exercising at or above 70 percent of your maximum heart rate may be more useful for improving your cardiovascular conditioning. Note: To find your resting heart rate (measured in beats per minute) you can measure it manually or use a heart-rate monitor. To get an accurate measurement, you should measure for a resting heart rate while you have been sitting for a while, or just after you wake up in the morning.
