One of the most important aspects of any successful routine takes place before you even start any exercise at all. Many people overlook this initial stage in which you plan and develop your routine. This can lead to disorganization and disappointing results. In order to know how to develop a routine, it is important to remember there are typically four parts that should be used to develop your strategy. These four basic concepts, which can be the framework for most types of workouts, are frequency (how often you want to exercise), intensity (how hard you want to exercise), time (how long you want to exercise for), and type (what kind of exercise you want to do). These are known as the F.I.T.T. principle (Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type) and are determined by your current fitness level, your intended goals, the time you have to set aside for reaching your goals, and the equipment you have access to.


Determine these four variables that make up the F.I.T.T. principle, and base your exercise routines around these factors to make your plan effective as well as personalized.
